I took these photos on our last day in what unexpectedly became my childhood home. This is my grandmother’s house along Purdue St. It was a sanctuary in our childhood days, a place of stability, where I learned to imagine other possible lives and spent many boring summers forging images in my head, conjuring up future artworks . There were so many old treasures in this house that triggered the imagination. It also held so many stories in its walls. Purdue was the place our family gathered for Sunday lunches, Christmas and New Years - a place of special memories .

This final walkabout while taking photos was my way of saying goodbye and thank you to each room that held our family together within it’s walls. I see these photos and still see in my mind the grandeur of what it once looked. To me, the house in Purdue looked like it was ready to rest. It had given shelter, comfort and joy when needed and her story now came full circle. This house was demolished a few months after we left.
